How to Create a WhatsApp Channel

What a WhatsApp Channel is (and isn’t)

Before you start

• Update to the latest WhatsApp — older versions do not show channel creation.

• Note that you must create the channel on a phone (Android or iPhone); WhatsApp Web and Desktop cannot create one.

Create your channel step by step

1. Open WhatsApp and tap the Updates tab (at the bottom on iPhone, at the top on Android).
2. Next to the Channels heading, tap the + or pencil icon and choose Create channel. Tap Continue and agree to the channel guidelines.
3. Enter your channel name.
4. Add a description so people know what they will get, and a profile photo or logo.
5. Tap Create channel. It is live immediately.
