Privacy Policy

Last updated June 9, 2026

Last updated: June 2026.

HogaToga (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website hogatoga.com.co (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have regarding your data. We serve a global audience and take our obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy laws seriously.

By using HogaToga you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site. This policy should be read alongside our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service.

1. Who We Are

HogaToga is a free, independent tech blog publishing news, reviews, how-to guides, and product recommendations. The Site is ad-supported and participates in affiliate programmes. We are the data controller for personal information collected through the Site. You can reach us at privacy@hogatoga.com.co for any privacy-related questions.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Newsletter subscription: When you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address. Providing your email is entirely voluntary. We use it only to send you editorial updates, new article digests, and occasional announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
  • Comments: If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address, and optional website URL you enter, along with the content of your comment. Your email address is not displayed publicly. We use it to notify you of replies and to detect spam. Your name and comment are displayed publicly unless we remove them.
  • Contact enquiries: If you email us or submit a contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message in order to respond to you.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs: Our web server automatically records standard log data when you visit any page. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time and date of visit, and bytes transferred. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies to make the Site function, remember your preferences (such as dark or light theme), and to power analytics and advertising. Please read our Cookie Policy for a full breakdown of the cookies we set and how to control them.
  • Analytics data: We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit or the Analytics tag) to understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are popular, how long people read, where traffic comes from, and similar aggregated statistics. Google Analytics may set its own cookies and collects data under Google’s privacy policy. We have enabled IP anonymisation where available. We do not use analytics data to identify you personally.

2.3 Information from Advertising Partners

We display advertisements through third-party ad networks, which may include Google AdSense and similar services when active. These partners may set cookies or use tracking pixels to serve interest-based advertising. They collect data about your browsing activity across websites independently of HogaToga. Please refer to those partners’ own privacy policies for details. You can opt out of interest-based advertising via the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool or the EDAA opt-out page (EU users).

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To deliver and improve our editorial content.
  • To send you the newsletter you subscribed to (legal basis: consent).
  • To publish and manage reader comments.
  • To respond to contact enquiries.
  • To analyse Site traffic and reader behaviour in aggregate so we can improve the Site (legal basis: legitimate interests).
  • To display relevant advertising that supports the free operation of the Site (legal basis: legitimate interests / consent where required).
  • To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and security incidents (legal basis: legitimate interests).
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. Cookies

We use essential, preference, analytics, and advertising cookies. For a complete list, their purposes, and instructions on how to manage or refuse them, please read our Cookie Policy.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party services to host the Site, send newsletters (e.g. an email service provider), and operate comments. These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
  • Analytics providers: Aggregate and anonymised usage data is shared with Google Analytics as described above.
  • Advertising partners: Ad networks may receive your IP address and browsing data as described in Section 2.3. We do not pass them your email address.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of HogaToga, our readers, or others.
  • Business transfers: If HogaToga is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via a prominent notice on the Site.

6. Data Retention

  • Newsletter emails: Retained for as long as your subscription is active. Deleted within 30 days of unsubscription on request.
  • Comments: Retained indefinitely as part of the editorial record unless you request deletion.
  • Server logs: Retained for up to 90 days.
  • Contact messages: Retained for up to 12 months after the enquiry is resolved.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure: You may ask us to delete your personal data where we have no legitimate reason to continue processing it.
  • Right to restrict processing: You may ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability: You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where we rely on consent (e.g. newsletter), you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@hogatoga.com.co. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the CCPA grants you the following rights:

  • Right to know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide an opt-out mechanism.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA right.

To submit a CCPA request, email privacy@hogatoga.com.co with the subject line “CCPA Privacy Request” or use our contact page. We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days.

9. Children’s Privacy

HogaToga is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@hogatoga.com.co and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

HogaToga is based in Colombia and serves a global audience. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK to third countries, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the recipient’s adherence to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including HTTPS encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to hogatoga.com.co. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites and encourage you to read their policies before providing any personal information.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
